Tree Care
Not sure if your trees require trimming? Here are four things you can easily monitor. Each of these indicates pruning is needed to keep the tree thriving.
Look to see if any of the limbs are no longer viable (i.e. they no longer bud and flower in the spring and summer).
Are any limbs diseased in some way (e.g. lacking bark, wilting or discolored and/or spotted leaves)?
Look for damaged limbs, which can expose the tree to infection (a broken limb on a tree is like an open wound on a person - infection can occur if not properly treated).
Finally, watch for limbs that are malformed in some way, such as two branches intertwined, or shaped oddly, in a way different from the tree’s other branches.
